“Through these almost nothingnesses she offers us as so many gifts of suspended time, FLORE expands our vision and enlarges the world with unsuspected spaces.”
Susana Gállego Cuesta
Curator of the Photographic Collection at the Petit Palais.
French-Spanish photographer FLORE, born in 1963, lives and works between her studios in Paris and the Hauts-de-France region.
A recipient of the Nadar Prize in 2020 and the Photography Prize of the Académie des Beaux-Arts – Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière in 2018, her work unfolds over long periods, often during travels, and is acquired and showcased in prestigious institutions such as the Petit Palais Museum, the BNF, MMP+ in Marrakech, the Rivesaltes Memorial, and at Art Fairs worldwide. Several monographs on her work have been published by Contrejour, André Frère, Maison CF, and Postcart Italy, and she won the Nadar Prize for her book L’odeur de la nuit était celle du jasmin from Maison CF.
She describes her poetic and timeless universe as a political act, a way of positioning herself against the “beam of darkness coming from her time,” as G. Agamben puts it.
Alongside her artistic endeavors, FLORE is a recognized educator, frequently conducting masterclasses. She is represented by several galleries around the globe.
