Véronique de Viguerie was born in 1978 in Toulouse. After completing a law degree, she decided to go to England to learn photojournalism and English. It was during an internship for a local newspaper that sent her on a mission in 2003 that she discovered Afghanistan. It was a true love affair, and she stayed there for 4 years. Her photos of the Taliban and life in their territories gained attention. Since then, she has been traveling the world, especially conflict zones, to humanize statistics, sometimes the enemies, and the victims—those others who don’t have a face or a voice. Her always-colorful photos aim to break the binary and simplistic view of a black and white world.
